Saranac Lake Clean Up Day set for Saturday

SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake’s annual Clean Up Day, a village day of community cleanup in conjunction with the Downtown Advisory Board, will take place on Saturday.

Anyone is welcome to come to the Berkeley Green at Main Street and Broadway anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. to get an assignment for cleaning up streets and sidewalks of the downtown section of the village.

Chairperson of the Downtown Advisory Board Tim Fortune will greet participants at Berkeley Green and direct them to specific streets with directions on what to do.

Part of the purpose of this day is to sweep sand from doorways and sidewalks into streets, where it will then be swept up by the village Department of Public Works. The village Board of Trustees will also be involved in the cleanup.

The Women’s Civic Chamber also supports this event, including day-of refreshments for participants. The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has offered the Welcome Center in the Harrietstown Town Hall as a space for participants to enjoy those refreshments after the cleanup.

This is a family-friendly day of service. Bring work gloves and brooms if you have them.

The village will send notice if the forecasted weather changes plans.
