Astronomy lesson

Tupper Lake Central School District Superintendent Seth McGowan spends a day educating sixth-graders at L.P. Quinn Elementary on outer space. McGowan is also the vice president of the Adirondack Sky Center in Tupper Lake. The students first met in the library and were then able to enter the “Skylab” while McGowan pointed out the constellations. One sixth-grader stated, “That may have been the coolest thing I have ever done.” Teacher Elisabeth Marchbanks said, “This was a great STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activity that the students have not stopped raving about.” (Photo provided)
