Management plan set for state historic site, campground

CROWN POINT (AP) — State officials from two agencies will be working on a management plan for a neighboring historic site and campground in northern New York.

The Department of Environmental Conservation and the Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation will prepare a unit management plan for both the Crown Point State Historic Site and the Crown Point Campground and Day Use Area.

The two properties, known collectively as the Crown Point Reservation, are located along Route 185 in the Essex County town of Crown Point, on Lake Champlain.

The historic site contains Colonial-era ruins of French and British forts. The campground has 66 campsites, a boat launch and a historic lighthouse.

A public meeting on the management plan will be held March 28 at the historic site’s museum.
