Backcountry ski fest set for March 15-17

KEENE VALLEY — The Mountaineer gear store will host its annual Adirondack Backcountry Ski Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 15, 16 and 17.

The three-day charity event includes guided trips in and around the High Peaks, with some spots still open on that Sunday. There will also be a screening of a Patagonia film at the Keene Arts Center on that Saturday. The movie is open to the public, and The Mountaineer encourages all attendees to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Keene Food Pantry.

The Ski Fest benefits the New York Ski Education Foundation (NYSEF) Nordic ski programs and Barkeater Trails Alliance, which manages the Jackrabbit Trail. Patagonia, Backcountry Magazine, Dynafit, Black Diamond, SCARPA, Julbo, Madshus, Mammut, G3, Osprey, Outdoor Research, Primaloft and Voilé support the event, and provide demo equipment for participants to try for free.
