LAKE PLACID — A New Orleans-themed church service with a live Dixieland band will take place at 10 a.m. this Sunday, March 3 at St. Eustace Episcopal Church, 2450 Main St.

The unconventional service will commemorate Shrove, or “Fat,” Tuesday on March 5, the day before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

The musicians in the Dixieland band will come from as far away as Gouverneur and will include Keith Ziemba on trumpet, Paul Buell on clarinet, Peter McCoy on trombone, Mike McCreadie on drums, Alison Simcox on cello and St. Eustace music director Steve Lester on banjo.

A coffee hour will take place downstairs in the social room immediately after the service.
