All 6 Stefanik challengers to meet in Queensbury

Stefanik invited to Aug. 31 event, yet to respond

All six of the announced candidates vying to challenge the North Country’s U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik [R-Willsboro] in 2018 will attend a “Meet The Candidates” event in Queensbury on August 31.

The event, scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., is hosted by Citizens Acting Together for District 21 [CAT21]. It will take place in the theater at SUNY Adirondack at 640 Bay Road in Queensbury.

The session will consist of a short introduction and opening remarks followed by a question and answer session which will be moderated by SUNY Adirondack Assistant Professor of Political Science, Wendy Johnston. Candidates will also interact with attendees and the press.

Stefanik was invited, but did not respond, per a statement issued by Bob Lippman of CAT21.

The six announced candidates to challenge Stefanik who will be in attendance are: Democrats Don Boyajian, Tedra Cobb, Emily Martz, Patrick Nelson, and Katie Wilson; and Republican Russell Finley.

CAT21 said they are a group of concerned citizens in the Greater Glens Falls area of Warren and Saratoga counties who are working toward increasing community involvement in the democratic process.

“Our goal is to raise awareness on issues we feel are relevant to constituents of District 21,” Lippman said in a statement, “and to increase community engagement in the process governing our nation.”
