Plattsburgh airport secures federal funds for runway
PLATTSBURGH (AP) — Plattsburgh’s airport will receive nearly $4 million in federal funds to upgrade its runways.
The money was announced by U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. The two Democrats say the investment will pay for crucial renovations intended to improve safety and efficiency at the airport.
The money comes from a federal fund generated by airport user fees, taxes on fuel and other revenue streams.
The airport was created at the site of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. A new terminal was completed in 2007.
The funding award was announced Monday.
