Village to hire Konkoski as new community development director

Konkoski

SARANAC LAKE — The village Board of Trustees will consider hiring Jamie Konkoski as its new community development director at its meeting tonight.

A resolution on the board’s agenda says Konkoski has met the necessary civil service requirements and authorizes village Manager John Sweeney to hire her. Her annual salary would be $60,000, plus benefits.

Konkoski is currently chairwoman of the village’s Parks and Trails Advisory Board, formerly the Healthy Infrastructure Advisory Board. During her tenure, she’s been involved in the planning process for the village’s parks, the development of the village Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail Master Plan, and a Complete Streets initiative, among other things. Konkoski also served on the village’s Comprehensive Planning Committee from 2006 to 2010.

She currently works as the program manager for the Saranac Lake-based North Country Healthy Heart Network. Since 2007 she has run its physical activity and nutrition programs.

Konkoski grew up in the Adirondacks. She has bachelor’s degree from SUNY Potsdam and a master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University at Albany.

Konkoski would replace Jeremy Evans as the village’s community development director. He resigned last month to become the new director of the Franklin County Industrial Development Agency.

The village is splitting the responsibilities held by Evans into two jobs. His Development Board-liason and code enforcement roles will be handled by a new, yet-to-be-hired codes position. Konkoski will be responsible for grant writing and grant administration, and working with various advisory boards in the village.

Tonight’s meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the village offices on the second floor of the Harrietstown Town Hall.
