Three vie for two Saranac Lake school board seats

SARANAC LAKE — Three candidates will run for two available seats on the Saranac Lake Central School District Board of Education on May 16.

Incumbent board member Aurora White will face two challengers in her re-election bid: Jeff Branch, a former village trustee and current Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee chairman, and Michael McCreadie, the technical director and information technology manager at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. They were the only three candidates who had submitted petitions to get on the ballot by Monday’s deadline, according to district Clerk Christine Fransen.

The other seat up for election this year is currently held by Kelly Morgan Dupree, who has apparently decided not to seek re-election. She and White were elected to three-year terms in May 2014.

At the same time as the school board election is held next month, school district voters will also cast ballots for or against the proposed $30,500,000 district budget for the 2017-18 school year.
