New York state will host Maple Weekend Saturday and Sunday as well as on March 25-26 at various sugarhouses throughout the area.

Here is a list of the local participants and their offerings:

Wild Center, 45 Museum Drive, Tupper Lake

On Saturdays, March 18 and 25 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the museum will host breakfast in its Waterside Cafe to celebrate the sweet season of maple sugaring. There will be tours of the on-site sugar shack to explain the museum’s Community Maple Project and get a taste of freshly made syrup. The breakfast costs $5 for members or $7.50 for non-members, plus museum admission. Reservations are appreciated for the breakfast at 518-359-7800.

The museum will also host a Sugar Shack Soiree from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 18. The outdoor, maple-themed party starts at 4 p.m. with live music. Attendees can learn how to boil maple sap, try different syrup grades and chop wood for the fire. Guests are welcome to bring their own musical instruments. There will be a cash bar and food available outside.

Tastes of Maple, Conference Center, 2608 Main St., Lake Placid

From 4 to 6 p.m., Tastes of Maple offers samples of local maple-based cuisine, beer and spirits and live music.

Tasting tickets cost $1 each.

Local maple producers will provide maple syrup for a tasting competition. Samples will be provided from a batch from each producer for free, and participants will vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced at 5:50 p.m.
