Jackrabbit Trail anniversary

LAKE PLACID – The Barkeater Trails Alliance will celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the Jackrabbit trail next Saturday.

The celebration will take place on Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Cascade Ski Center outside of Lake Placid.

The event is free for BETA members, and BETA Executive Director Josh Wilson said the group will be offering membership discounts at the event for new and renewing members.

BETA will rebuild Theresa’s Bridge on the Jackrabbit Trail near Craig Wood Golf Course in the morning and then offer a hiking tour of the BETA ski and bike trail system under development on Scott’s Cobble, adjacent to the Craig Wood section of the Jackrabbit Trail. Both of these events are free and open to the public.

Later on, there will be the BETA-ASTC Annual Meeting at Cascade Ski Center with the Executive Director’s report to the members and elections for the Board of Directors. After that, there will be a reception at Cascade XC Ski Center with local food and drinks, live music by Big Slyde, evening bonfire and presentations by Tony Goodwin and others.
