Just after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, state police requested help from forest rangers with finding two hunters who had been reported missing. The 50-year-old man from Plattsburgh and a 53-year-old man from Dannemora had parked on state Route 374 and taken ATVs into the woods.

One hunter bushwhacked out to the road shortly after noon, and the second hunter was located just before 2 p.m. and escorted out of the woods.

A 30-year-old woman from Glens Falls became lost on the Blue Trail on Cat Mountain near Lake George on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

The woman called 911 and provided GPS coordinates, but her headlamp was dying. Warren County 911 requested assistance from forest rangers at 7 p.m.

Her coordinates put her location on Thomas Mountain, where she was located by a ranger just after 9 p.m. She was escorted out to the trailhead.

Town of North Elba

A 39-year-old man from Bayside was in medical distress and unable to continue at Marcy Dam on Saturday, Nov. 5.

A forest ranger responded and stabilized the man before transporting him via UTV to South Meadow Road, where the man declined further medical treatment.

Two hikers from Ponce Inlet, Florida, called for help when they failed to anticipate how long their hike would take.

The 52-year-old male and 55-year-old female called DEC dispatch just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, saying they did not have flashlights for the last section of the trail.

A ranger met them on the trail before 6 p.m. and escorted them back to their car.
