Run goes from Whiteface to Utica brewery

WILMINGTON – Teams of runners will descend from the summit of Whiteface Mountain next month, and the next day they will be enjoying cold beers from the F.X. Matt Brewing Company in Utica.

The Peak to Brew relay race will cover 238 miles between the two places. This is the first year the race is open to the public after an exhibition race took place last summer.

The race consists of teams of 12, with each team member running four legs of between 2 and 12 miles. There will be aid stations along the way, and vans to shuttle runners to their next leg of the race.

F.X. Matt Brewing, whoich makes the Saranac and Utica Club beers, will host a finish party. There will be Saranac beer on tap as well as food and live music. The finish party is open to the public for a $5 entrance fee that includes a drink.

According to a press release, “the race’s mission is to promote the Adirondacks, tourism and business in local communities, fund raising, fitness, and health.”
