Movie theater meeting set for Thursday

SARANAC LAKE – A public meeting is set for Thursday on a plan to bring a new, multi-screen movie theater in downtown Saranac Lake.

Cinema Saranac Lake, led by Peter Wilson, will host a “community interest information and discussion” meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Saranac Lake Free Library’s Cantwell Community Room.

“The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the project’s ambitious goals, ask questions, share ideas and inspiration, sign up to volunteer talents, or even as a steering committee member,” Wilson wrote in a press release.

As part of its information gathering effort, Wilson said Cinema Saranac Lake has conducted a brief market survey through its Facebook page. Printed copies of the survey are also available at the Saranac Lake Free Library and, once completed, can be handed in at the library’s reception desk.

Thursday’s meeting overlaps with the Third Thursday Art Walk downtown, and Wilson asked people to stop by and ask questions during the Art Walk, or visit afterward.

The meeting was originally scheduled for a date in late June but was postponed to Thursday due to a power outage.
