Man convicted of manslaughter in ATV crash
PROVIDENCE (AP) – A Saratoga County jury has convicted a 34-year-old man of vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated for an all-terrain vehicle crash that killed his passenger.
Edward Wager of Caroga Lake was found guilty Friday of offenses related to the June 2015 ATV crash that killed 33-year-old Roxanne Opalka.
Police say Wager was operating the ATV at a high rate of speed in the Saratoga County town of Providence when he lost control on a curve. His passenger was thrown into the side of a pickup truck parked nearby.
Prosecutors say Wager had been drinking all day and had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
He’ll be sentenced Sept. 8.
