LAKE PLACID – The 2016 summer skating series opens Friday with Freaky Friday and Saturday with the Saturday Night Ice Show at the Olympic Center, in Lake Placid.

Both events will be held in the center’s 1932 Rink Jack Shea Arena.

Ross Miner is the featured skater during Saturday’s opening night. Miner, who started skating at three and was a member of the Lake Placid Skating Club, is a 2012 Four Continents bronze medalist and a 2013 U.S. national championship silver medalist. He was also a member of the 2011 U.S. world championship figure skating team.

Headliners for the remainder of the summer include national and international competitor Doug Razzano; U.S. pairs bronze medalists and world competitors Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue, U.S. junior silver medalist and world junior competitor Tyler Pierce, U.S. ice dancing champions and world competitors Caydee Denney and John Coughlin; U.S. men’s champion and world competitor Ryan Bradley and U.S. women’s junior champion and world junior competitor Bradie Tennell.

This summer is the 84th annual summer skating program. The skaters will perform their individual and group numbers. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for juniors and seniors. Children 6 and under may enter for free.

The Freaky Friday show will also feature skaters from the summer skating program, who create their own unique routines for this event. The skaters abandon their regular routines in favor of creativity, humor and amusement. The routines are judged on entertainment value. Admission is free.
