Saranac Laker wins NCCC High School Regional Student Art Show

MALONE – A Saranac Lake student won as North Country Community College held its inaugural High School Regional Student Art Show at its Malone campus from March 4 until April 2.

Hannah Gochenaur of Saranac Lake captured the Best in Show award while Joel Cook of Ticonderoga captured first place. Skylar Fetter of Norwood-Norfolk captured second place, and Erin Tatro of Malone’s Franklin Academy won third place.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Jake Rider of Elizabethtown-Lewis, Davis Milhill of Lake Placid, Emily Manfred of Moriah Central School District, Logan Reed of Parishville-Hopkinton and Niiostosera’ah Thompson of Salmon River.

Students from 17 local schools participated, submitting sculptures, drawings, paintings, prints and photographs.

“The quality of student art was amazing,” said NCCC Assistant Professor of Art Tina LaMour.
