Area students earn academic honors

Local SUNY Potsdam students named to President’s List

POTSDAM — The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 967 students to the President’s List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the spring 2021 semester.

The SUNY Potsdam students were honored for earning top marks by President Kristin G. Esterberg.

The students included 13 from the Tri-Lakes area:

¯ Sarah Dalton of Saranac Lake, whose major is Literature/Writing

¯ Savanna Donaldson of Lake Clear, whose major is Psychology

¯ Gabe Faubert of Saranac Lake, whose major is Criminal Justice Studies

¯ Luke Favata of Lake Placid, whose major is Exercise Science

¯ Dana Holmlund of Saranac Lake, whose major is English/Creative Writing

¯ John Holmlund of Saranac Lake, whose major is BA/MA Mathematics

¯ Abigail Hunt of Saranac Lake, whose major is Childhood/Early Childhood Education

¯ Mary Keating of Saranac Lake, whose major is Music Education

¯ Madelynn Munn of Bloomingdale, whose major is Psychology

¯ William Reid of Lake Clear, whose major is Mathematics

¯ Jazen Reuss of Saranac Lake, whose major is Art Studio

¯ Monica Trummer of Saranac Lake, whose major is Musical Studies

¯ Dakota Villiere of Saranac Lake, whose major is Biology

To achieve the honor of being on the President’s List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically-graded semester hours, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

SUNY Potsdam names local

students to Dean’s List

POTSDAM — The State University of New York at Potsdam recently named 221 students who excelled academically in the spring 2021 semester to the college’s Dean’s List. The students included three from the Tri-Lakes area:

¯ Klarissa Hoyt of Tupper Lake, whose major is Mathematics

¯ Stephanie Sypher of Gabriels, whose major is Community Health

¯ Owen Wilson of Saranac Lake, whose major is Exercise Science.

To achieve the honor of being on the Dean’s List, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours, with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49 in the given semester.

Local students make UNH Dean’s List

DURHAM, N.H. — The following Tri-Lakes area students have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire for the spring 2021 semester.

¯ Sara Donatello of Lake Placid for earning Highest Honors

¯ Scott Schulz of Lake Placid for earning Highest Honors

¯ Camille Ward of Jay for earning Honors.

Students named to the Dean’s List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits).

Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

Local student earns Dean’s

List recognition at Norwich

University

NORTHFIELD, Vt. — Ernest Dieter Hohmeyer of Lake Clear was recognized on the Dean’s List at Norwich University for the spring 2021 semester.

Full-time undergraduate students, who earned a semester grade point average of at least 3.40 and had no failures in the previous fall or spring semester are awarded Dean’s List honors. These students cannot have any pending Incomplete (I) grades and must have chosen to keep letter grades in at least 12 credits of classes. Dean’s List honors are noted on the official transcript each term earned.

Ithaca College Dean’s List

ITHACA — Liwei Qi of Lake Placid was named to the Ithaca College Dean’s List for the spring 2021 semester.
