LATHAM — The New York Army National Guard promoted one member from Saranac Lake and another from Jay recently.

Alex Durfee of Saranac Lake, assigned to the Guard’s 1427th Transportation Company, received a promotion to the rank of private first class on Dec. 30, 2020.

Quinn Herringshaw of Jay, assigned to the Company G, 427th Brigade Support Battalion, received a promotion to the rank of private on Dec. 22, 2020.

Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the state of New York, announced the promotions of New York Army National Guard members in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
