Scholarships awarded by SL Fish and Game Club

SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club has awarded camp scholarships to Carter Sharlow of Lake Placid, Maya Wissler of Saranac Lake and Wyatt Bigelow of Lake Placid.

They will be attending the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Camp Colby this summer. The scholarship is an annual scholarship for $350 awarded to selected children, ages 11-17.

Founded in 1905, the SLFGC is a membership club whose members value conservation of our forest, the propagation, distribution and protection of game, wild fowl, birds and fish, and for the aiding in the enforcement of laws of the State governing the same and in the securing of proper legislation upon these objectives.

The scholarship was founded on the group’s recognition of the indispensable value of education to society, and with a desire to remove the financial barriers some local families face in funding a summer camp program.

The scholarship is made possible due to the clubs generous members who support fund raisers and a the general promotion and support of the areas youth.
