LAKE PLACID — The Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Nordic ski teams held their last meet of the regular season on Wednesday at Mount Van Hoevenberg, and the Blue Bombers boys performed well on their home course.

Lake Placid’s Kai Frantz led the way for the boys in a 9-kilometer classic ski technique race with a finish time of 28 minutes, 8 seconds, and was followed across the line by teammate James Flanigan (29:48). Saranac Lake rounded out the top five with captain Jacob Alberga (29:55) finishing third, Nick Kelting (30:24) placing fourth and Colter Cheney-Seymour (31:25) in fifth.

On the girl’s side, the Red Storm took four of the top five slots, with Sylvie Linck topping the field in the 6K race with a time 23:14. Eighth-grader Sophia Kelting was just three seconds behind Linck, and the Blue Bombers’ Lura Johnson took third in 23:54. Evelyn Eller (26:11) earned fourth place for Saranac Lake and was followed across the line by eighth-grader Bella Wissler in 26:24.

The two teams are the only Nordic ski team in Section VII, and will face off in two sectional races next week. The first race will be at Dewey Mountain in Saranac Lake on Monday at 3:45 p.m. and the second will be at Van Ho on Thursday, also at 3:45 p.m.
