SL wins in OT

SARANAC LAKE –The youngest player on the Saranac Lake boys soccer team came through with a memorable goal, as Colter Cheney-Seymour tallied in overtime to lift the Red Storm to a 2-1 victory over Plattsburgh at Schroeter’s Field.

Cheney-Seymour, the lone sophomore on the roster, buried the game-winner with just 36 seconds remaining in the second sudden-death overtime to send the Red Storm past the Hornets.

Mathieu Durkin scored the only goal of the opening half to put Plattsburgh on top, and senior Brooks Fletcher answered for Saranac Lake at the 13:58 mark of the second stanza on an assist from Jacob Adams to deadlock the contest.

Saranac Lake finished with an 18-16 edge in shots. Junior Zach Churco made nine saves to earn the win in nets.

Saranac Lake’s boys will be at home again Friday, hosting Saranac Central starting at 4 p.m.
