Saranac Lake boys soccer narrows the gap on Indians

PERU — The Saranac Lake boys soccer team turned in a much better performance Wednesday when it met Peru for the second time this season.

The Red Storm however, came up short again.

Playing on the road, Saranac Lake gave up a single goal in the second half but couldn’t put one in at the other end of the field in a 1-0 loss to unbeaten Peru.

The Indians shut out the Red Storm 3-0 when the teams first tangled this fall, and got a tally from Noah Lederman at the 17:58 mark of the second half to earn a sweep over the Red Storm in Northern Soccer League Division I action.

Lederman scored off an assist from LJ Nuzzo.

Peru outshot Saranac Lake 13-6. Brett Dawson recorded nine saves for the Red Storm. Tyler Robinson made five stops for the Indians.

Saranac Lake dropped to 4-4-1 with the loss.

The Red Storm next play Monday on the road at Northern Adirondack.
