Bobcats blank Red Storm

ELLENBURG — The Saranac Lake boys soccer team was handed its toughest defeat of the season so far, as Northern Adirondack blanked the Red Storm 4-0 Monday in a non-league match on the Bobcats’ field.

Brett Juntunen led the charge with a hat trick and Cody Peryea netted NAC’s other goal and also added two assists.

The Bobcats netted two goals in a span of just over five minutes midway through the opening half and added two more after intermission. Juntunen opened the scoring at the 22:23 mark with an unassisted tally and Peryea upped the hosts edge to 2-0 at the 27:28 mark with Casper Labarge assisting on the play.

Juntunen then completed his hat trick in quick fashion, scoring 6:55 into the second half and notching his third of the match less than two minutes later.

NAC finished with a 26-14 edge in shots. Lucas Smart recorded nine saves to earn the shutout in nets for the Bobcats and Brett Dawson was credited with 14 stops in goal for the Red Storm.

Saranac Lake dropped to 4-5-1 overall. The Red Storm returns to the pitch Wednesday, hosting Beekmantown at 4 p.m. The match will be Saranac Lake’s final regular-season contest at home.
