Sentinels handle Tupper Lake

POTSDAM — The Tupper Lake football season came to an end Friday with a 43-0 loss to Ticonderoga in a Class D sub-regional state playoff game at Potsdam High School.

The Sentinels scored early and often with 14 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second to take command of the matchup. Ticonderoga, which marched all the way to the state final last year before losing, improved its record to 9-1. Tupper Lake finished at 1-9.

Tupper Lake junior Mike Hyde continued his solid play Friday, rushing the ball 19 times for 85 yards.

The Sentinels spread the wealth offensively with 12 different players running the ball for a total of 237 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Junior quarterback Evan Graney threw for 101 yards with a 6 of 11 completion rate.

Tupper Lake quarterback Brennen McComber competed 1 of 6 attempts for four yards.

Ticonderoga will take on Section II’s Class D champion next week.
