First Saranac Lake fun run draws 45

SARANAC LAKE – A field of 45 participated in Saranac Lake’s first fun run of the season on Thursday evening.

The fun runs, which are held each Thursday for 10 weeks during the summer include both children’s and adult distances.

This week’s longest run covered a 4.3-mile course, and Joe Garso turned in the fastest finish time of 28 minutes, 29 seconds. Heidi Holderied was second in 33:02 and Sandra Izzo finished one second back in third place.

Madison Grimone took top honors in the 3.1-mile run with a 28:14 result, which was just one second in front of runner-up Jackie Garso.

Nevaeh Christmas finished first in the 2-mile run with a time of 15:50, and Steph Gysel was a second behind.

The children’s distances were quarter-, half- and one-mile runs.

Ebin Meissner finished first in the quarter mile in 1:41, Gracie Christmas finished the half mile in 4:14 and Oliver C. Patnode took the mile top spot in 10:03.

The Saranac Lake Fun Runs start each with the childrens events at 6 p.m. in front of the bandshell at Riverside Park.

The fun runs are free of charge.
