WCS creates quilt for 75th anniversary raffle

August 13, 2014
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Women’s College Scholarship Club co-president Lynn Hidy is shown with the Adirondack theme quilt created by club members to celebrate their 75th anniversary and to raise funds for local scholarships. Tickets can be purchased at the Aug. 21 Saranac Lake Art Walk, from 5 to 7 p.m., from club members, at the North Country Community College November Craft Fair, and December Sparkle Village in the Harrietstown Town Hall. Tickets sell for $1 or six tickets for $5. The drawing will be Dec. 6, 2014. This is the eighth quilt created by club members. The first quilt raffle took place in 1989. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the club’s founding with the goal of furthering education for those in the Saranac Lake area. The club awarded five $1,000 scholarships to Saranac Lake High School seniors and two $1,000 scholarships to local continuing education students in 2014, for a total of $7,000.
