Anderson Gray of Saranac Lake stands on the podium after placing third in the 1,500-meter race of the United States Track and Field Region 1 Junior Olympic Championships at Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Anderson finished in 4:32.22, just behind Sameul Toolin (4:29.86) and Quinn Gangadharan (4:27.70) in the 13- to 14-year-old age group. With the result, Gray qualified for the national meet in Houson, Texas on July 24. Gray advanced to the regional meet after winning the 1,500-meter race June 21 at SUNY Albany. He finished in 4:49.19. Gray, 14, is entering eighth grade at Petrova Middle School in Saranac Lake.
