SARANAC LAKE - The first ever Winter Carnival Summer Gala fundraiser was held Friday night at the Harrietstown Town Hall.

Saranac Lakers were dressed sharp in suit and dress attire. The event featured a dinner, dancing and music, and was designed to raise money for next year's Winter Carnival.

"I thought this time of year would be an excellent fundraising opportunity for the community to keep Winter Carnival in mind as we near closer to planning next year's carnival," said Gail Brill, gala coordinator. "It's also when our summer visitors are here and a great opportunity to raise awareness of our village's signature event."

A live auction called the "bid and bump" was the highlight of the evening, with bids made on several events, dinners and private parties. Attendees also bid on gift baskets that were donated by local organizations. The profits from the gift baskets were split.
