Sally A. Stuart, 76, of Tupper Lake passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home.
Born in Tupper Lake on Feb. 22, 1938, she was the daughter of Richard and Alice (Demars) LaGrave.
Sally grew up in Tupper Lake and was a graduate of Holy Ghost Academy, class of 1956. She went on to receive her degree as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown.
Sally returned to Tupper Lake and was employed at the Veterans Hospital and then at Mercy General Hospital for over 25 years until its closure. She went on to work at Sunmount DDSO retiring in 1993.
On Sept. 20, 1961, she married Freeman Stuart at St. Henrys Church in Long Lake. Together they had four children.
Sally was known for her many talents including sewing, knitting and needle point. She enjoyed spending winter vacations in Florida. She was known by her family and especially her grandchildren as the best cook ever. She will be remembered by family and friends for her smile and sense of humor.
Sally was involved at the Adirondack Adult Center serving as president. She was very active as a volunteer for bingo night.
Sally is survived by her husband Freeman of 53 years; four children: Scott and his loving partner Mary Smith of Saranac Lake, Sheri Stuart-Butler and husband Rod of Kittery, Maine, Shawn Stuart and his wife Joni of Tupper Lake, Spencer Stuart and his loving partner Debi Corneau of Troy; six grandchildren: Nicole, Schuyler, Alex, Katie, Morgan and Ryan; and one sister Brenda Parker and her husband Douglas of Lake Pleasant.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at noon Sunday, July 13 at the Stuart- Fortune- Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.
