To the editor:
The pain of losing a child has to be experienced to be understood. Our son George was a man filled with compassion for suffering humanity and animals. While living in West Palm Beach, Florida, he occasionally risked his life by rescuing 23 pit bulls from merciless men who trained the dogs to fight and then abandoned them. His main interest in the past few years was working to help stop this miserable practice.
We are not only grateful to all who offered their condolences to us and their prayers for him, but also to those contributing to the welfare of the animals he so loved. The list of those contributing to his passion is given here. Your donations would have made him extremely happy: Adirondack Health family, Bernadette Clark, the Curran family, Thomas Delehant, the Desrocher family, the Esposito family, the Gengel family, the Hughes family, the Kelly family, the Hauptman family, the Peacock family, the Dooling family, the Kjetsaa family, the Mandel family, the Meyers family, Amy Richardson, the Roland family, the Sacco family, the Stiles family, the Weber family, Frank Whitelaw, Lori Wilson, Dr. Thomas Woodman.
Our heartfelt thanks to all.
Dr. C. Francis Varga and the Varga family
