Andrea L. DeGrace Martell, 41, of Saranac Lake, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Saranac Lake on Nov. 14, 1972, and lived most of her childhood life in Tupper Lake, graduating from Tupper Lake High School in 1993.
After graduation she moved to Saranac Lake, where she met her loving husband Kenneth Martell. They were married on July 31, 2004, in Tupper Lake.
Andrea is the daughter of Mary Jane and the late Manuel Kennedy and Robert and Nancy DeGrace, all of Tupper Lake.
Andrea worked several years at Kinney Drugs. She often spent her time at Mountain Crest and the Lunchbox. She volunteered her time on Wednesday night meals at the Methodist church and attended many nightly 12-step meetings. Andrea enjoyed working with the MHA planting flowers around Saranac Lake. She was a big Yankee fan and loved her cats. Andrea always treasured her friends and family.
Andrea is survived by her husband, Kenneth Martell; her two stepchildren, Kenneth J. Martell and his girlfriend Melissa, and Bethany Hogan and her husband Josh; her two sisters, Tina Burnett and husband Jerry, and Debbie LaMell and boyfriend Doug Wood; one brother, Robert DeGrace and wife Stacey; six stepsisters: Debra Miller and her husband John, Polly Garvey, Merrilee Hubbard and husband Kenneth, Amy Erickson, Dr. Jill Winget and Erin Schryver; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Holmes and husband Roger, and Theresa Martell. Andrea also has several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake.
