To the editor:
As the organizer for the recent "Philosopher's Camp for Education Reformers," I wanted to thank the many Tri-Lakes residents who helped make it a smashing success. Several hundred policymakers and activists from around the country trekked to the Adirondacks for the first time and walked away more than just a little impressed. Many said they planned to return on their own time because they were drawn by the spirit of hospitality from local residents and by the sheer beauty of the region. Special thanks to the staff at the Whiteface Lodge for taking such great care of our guests, and to Governor Cuomo, for inspiring us to bring the debate - and the tourism dollars - to upstate New York.
