Record-setting cold overnight

March 17, 2014
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
The Enterprise found what may be the only person in the Adirondacks out enjoying the winter weather this morning on Fairview Avenue, Saranac Lake. It was 17 below zero at 7 a.m., unusually cold for this late in the winter. The low this morning was minus 29 in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, according to the National Weather Service in Burlington, Vt. For Lake Placid, the previous record for St. Patrick’s Day was minus 10 in 1981. In Saranac Lake, the prior record was minus 8 last year.
