Demong, nordic combined team take 6th

Vermontville's Billy Demong and the other members of the U.S. nordic combined team finished 6th today in their final event of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, the team Gundersen large hill/4-by-5-kilometer event.

In eighth place after the large hill ski jumping portion of the event, Bryan Fletcher, Taylor Fletcher, Todd Lodwick and Demong improved their placement with the sixth-best performance in the cross-country segment to end up with a time of 49:35.1.

They were 2:21.6 behind the gold medal performance of Norway, which posted a time of 47:13.5. The silver medal went to Germany in 47:13.9, while Austria won the bronze in 47:16.9.
