Tupper Lake girls fall in semifinal

BRUSHTON - The Tupper Lake girls basketball team's season came to an end Wednesday night with a 43-19 loss to Brushton-Moira in the semifinal round of the Section X, Class C tournament.

The Lumberjacks finished with a 4-14 overall record.

Meagan Martin scored 13 points and Kirstin Barrett added 10 to pace Brushton-Moira, which improved to 11-6 with the win.

The Panthers will face St. Lawrence Central in the championship game Feb. 21 at SUNY Potsdam.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Peru 68, Saranac Lake 32

PERU - The Peru boys basketball team kept Saranac Lake under 10 points in each of the first three quarters Wednesday night on the way to a 68-32 Northern Basketball League victory.

Devin Cowan scored 10 of his team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter to pace Saranac Lake, which trailed 50-18 after three.

Tyler Lemza hit for 18 points, Nick Lawliss had 12 and Conor Casey scored 11 to lead the Indians.
