Local writers join state hall of fame

Two local men were inducted into the New York State Writers Hall of Fame by the Empire State Center for the Book.

The announcement was made Thursday that novelist, short story writer, and poet Russell Banks of Keene and poet, editor, professor and publisher Maurice Kenny of Saranac Lake will join five other inductees in the hall of fame.

Banks and Kenny will join suspense novelist Mary Higgins Clark and author Alice Hoffman at an induction ceremony on June 3 at the Princeton Club of New York.
