The Olympic opening ceremonies on the LPCA big screen

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Center for the Arts will broadcast the 2014 Sochi Olympic opening ceremonies on their movie screen as a part of Lake Placid's Olympic Celebration.

There is no charge to attend the screening. Coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

"The Opening Ceremonies celebrate the artistry and majesty of the Olympics," said LPCA Executive Director James Lemons. "This is our way to celebrate our local athletes as well be a part of the entire Olympic global celebration.

Other Olympic-themed events at the LPCA include the art exhibit Olympic Inspirations: Celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The exhibit includes original work and photography that celebrate the Olympic spirit. Olympic Inspirations runs Friday through April 6.

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Now in its 41st season, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts is dedicated to presenting and fostering quality arts which inspire, enrich, educate and entertain people of all ages.
