LAKE PLACID - The Empire Strikes Against Cancer Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bowlwinkles in Lake Placid. This is a family-friendly event, including Color Pin Cosmic Bowling, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, door prizes and snacks and a kids burger and fries special. Cost is a $10 donation per person for two games.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Empire State Building Run Up, which Nadine Hathaway of Wilmington and Ashleah Mayberry and Jessica Hoffman of Lake Placid have been chosen to participate in on Feb. 5.
The event has participants run up 86 flights, 1576 steps, and raise $7,500 as a team or MMRF.

Multiple Myeloma is, at this time, an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year relative survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
This team has made an commitment to raise $2,500 per teammate.
