Saranac Lake temperature dipped to -27 last night

December 17, 2013
Associated Press

ALBANY (AP) - More snow is falling around upstate New York to go along with bone-chilling temperatures that have dipped to nearly 30 below in some northern areas.

Temperatures hit a low of minus 27 degrees in Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks. Temperatures in eastern New York hovered in the single digits or teens.

The National Weather Service says 2 to 5 inches has fallen today in areas south of Buffalo, while parts of central New York near Lake Ontario have received 3 to 9 inches.

About two dozen school districts in central New York, the Catkills and the Hudson Valley have canceled or delayed classes or are letting students go home early.

The latest round of snow comes after a weekend storm dumped up to 14 inches across upstate New York.
