Musical benefit Tuesday for Jane Ladisic

November 29, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Elementary School family will gather to raise money and celebrate one of their own, Jane Ladisic, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Ladisic is a teaching assistant at the elementary school, and beyond that, contributes things like birthday cakes and holiday pies, countless hours sewing hems and mending clothes of all kinds. She has costumed a variety of events in the school district, including years of second-grade Christmas play and the kindergarteners' performance at the Winter Carnival Coronation. She's also spent endless hours costuming every child in the elementary Drama Club productions for a decade, which include casts of 50 to 60 children every year.

Ladisic will spend six weeks going through radiation treatments to shrink a tumor that is wrapped around her optical nerve. She and her husband, a fifth-grade teacher at Lake Placid Elementary, will be spending the next six weeks and their Christmas in Albany between a hotel and the hospital, where Ladisic will receive her treatments.

Each elementary grade will perform a musical number, as will the middle school chorus, the high school women's ensemble, the Voices of Experience featuring Kathy Briggs, Vicki Kirchner, Heather Bickford and Anne Paulson, some student instrumentalists and Kim Weems with a solo performance.

The event will take place in the Lake Placid Middle/High School auditorium. A donation of $5 is suggested at the door in exchange for a night of holiday music and a chance to buy some baked goods.
