First Presbyterian Church hosts benefit concert for Samaritan House

November 21, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

On Saturday at 3 p.m., the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake, 57 Church St., will host a variety of musical performers in concert, to benefit the proposed Samaritan House shelter planned for the village.

The shelter is an initiative of the Saranac Lake Ecumenical Council.

The church's choir, under the direction of Choir Director and Organist Scott Smith, will perform several pieces, ranging from traditional ecclesiastical, to American spiritual, to contemporary. Smith will also perform a number of stirring solo organ works. In addition, performances are scheduled by musicians Duane Keith Gould, Steve Borst, and Skip Outcalt, as well as Lisa and Klaus Meissner of Rustic Riders, and The Holmlund Family Players. A representative from the Ecumenical Council will make a brief presentation regarding the Samaritan House project.

The concert, in the church's historic sanctuary, will be followed by a reception with light refreshments.

Suggested, but not required, donations of $10 per person will be accepted at the event.

For more information, call the First Presbyterian Church at 518-891-3401 or email firstpresbyterianchurchsl57@yahoo.com.
