SARANAC LAKE - A local man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly threatened to shoot another man with a shotgun during a dispute in the apartment building where they both lived.

Austin L. Bush, 20, of Saranac Lake, was charged with second-degree menacing and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both of which are misdemeanors, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Village police Chief Bruce Nason said his officers were called to a report of a person threatening to shoot another person with a gun in a Shepard Avenue apartment house. An investigation revealed that Bush allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a male tenant who lived in a different apartment and threatened to shoot him.

Nason said he couldn't provide any more details on what sparked the dispute because the investigation is ongoing.

Bush was found in possession of two side-handle batons in his apartment at the time he was arrested. One of the batons, which are illegal to possess under state Penal Law, was in plain view, Nason said.

Bush was arraigned and remanded to the Essex County Jail in Lewis in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
