Garbage truck rubs telephone pole

November 15, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Saranac Lake village police direct traffic at the intersection of Church, Helen and St. Bernard streets around 4:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Police Chief Bruce Nason said a car passing through the intersection didn’t allow a Casella Waste Systems garbage truck enough room to make the turn from Helen Street onto Church Street, and the truck rubbed up against a utility pole on the corner. The garbage truck driver was concerned about trying to back off the pole without damaging it, so Madden’s Towing and Recovery responded to the scene and helped to safely pull the truck away from the pole, Nason said. There was no damage to the pole or to the garbage truck, the chief said.
