Bobcats rugby reaches title match

ROCHESTER - The Paul Smith's men's rugby team advanced to the New York State Rugby Conference championship with a 45-24 victory over University of Rochester on Saturday.

The Bobcats will face Union College in the title game Sunday at the Syracuse Chargers Field at 2 p.m. Union edged Paul Smith's 7-5 in a hard-fought match earlier this season.

Against Rochester, Alex Medina accounted for two scores in the first half to post the Bobcats to an early 14-0 lead. Rochester battled back and was able to score in the final minute of the half to cut its deficit to 14-7.

Paul Smith's dominated play in the second half. Jake Terborg-Begley, Louis Altobell, Kyle Christensen, Brandon Achmutat and Nate Mills each scored trys, while Nate Flynn scored on five conversions.
