CHAZY - The third time was not a charm Friday for the Saranac Lake boys soccer team as they took on Plattsburgh in a Section VII, Class B semifinal game.

Jack Tolosky scored the game-winning goal for the Hornets in overtime to secure a 2-1 victory over the Red Storm and a spot in the championship game. It was the third time Plattsburgh beat Saranac Lake by a single goal this season.

The Hornets opened the scoring in the 31st minute of the first half when Garrett Frady broke through for a goal. Saranac Lake answered shortly after when Devin Cowan scored the equalizer.

The teams went scoreless throughout the second half, sending the game into an extra period.

Plattsburgh beat the Red Storm 2-1 on Sept. 24 at Schroeter's Field in Saranac Lake. It was the first loss of the season for the Red Storm, who started the season with five straight victories.

The Hornets stung Saranac Lake once again on Oct. 15 on their home field.

The Red Storm finished the season with an 8-6-1 overall record. Plattsburgh is 11-6-1 heading into the Class B championship game against Beekmantown on Nov. 1 at Chazy High School. Beekmantown advanced to the title game with a 2-0 win over Northeastern Clinton on Friday.
