To the editor:
As you are aware, I have decided not to run for re-election for Franklin County legislator representing District 7, which is comprised of the village of Saranac Lake and the towns of Harrietstown and Franklin. I must say that representing the people of District 7 has been my privilege for the past nine years. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for this opportunity to be the voice of the district in the Franklin County Board of Legislators.
As you also know, there are three candidates for the District 7 seat, and I would like to again state that I am supporting Barbara Rice for Franklin County District 7 legislator. Barb is a great person for the seat, and I'm extremely pleased to know that a quality candidate, like her, has agreed to step up to run for this seat. When I announced that I was not running again, I had made sure that Barb agreed to run for the seat before I made my decision. I actively recruited her because of her enthusiasm for everything she does, her understanding of the complicated issues at the county level and her no-nonsense business background. As many of your readers have read in our newspaper, there are some complex financial issues that we are currently dealing with, and more difficult decisions are just around the corner. We need someone that will continue to keep the taxpayers of District 7 in the forefront of any discussion and continually advocate for the south end of the county while looking out for best interest of ALL the people of Franklin County.
Timothy P. Burpoe
