PLATTSBURGH - A vehicle stop on state Route 3 led to what authorities are saying may be the largest single seizure of heroin in Clinton County.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., police stopped a 2013 Ford occupied by James D Walker, 28, of Schenectady, and Jose Alicea, 27, of Scotia.
Upon being stopped, Alicea led officers on a brief foot chase, but he was apprehended a short time later.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle at the Plattsburgh City Police Department and 600 bags of heroin, all packaged for resale, were seized with an estimated street value of $30,000.
Members of the Adirondack Drug Task Force arrested Walker and Alicea for the class B felony of possession of a controlled substance third degree. The arrests are a result of an investigation that began in May 2013.
The Adirondack Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the Plattsburgh Police Department, New York State Police, Clinton County Sheriff's Department, Clinton County District Attorney's Office, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Border Patrol and US Customs and Border Protection.
