SARANAC LAKE - Baylee Annis, a Saranac Lake graduate and former player on the Adirondack girls under-19 rugby team, was named a USA Rugby Division I Second Team All-American.

Annis plays for the Norwich University women's rugby team, which finished with a 16-1 record and was runner-up to Penn State in the national championship game played in Palo Alto, Calif.

She was also on the 2012 Cadets team that claimed the Division I collegiate national title.

Annis was an integral part of the team both years. Last spring, she started in 15 matches and scored three trys as the leader of Norwich's forward pack.

"We're happy for Baylee to receive this honor," Norwich head coach Austin Hall said. "She's a great student-athlete with a high GPA. She's an incredibly active member of campus and also excels on the rugby pitch. She has a great future ahead of her as a rugby player and in whatever professional job she chooses after college."

Annis is the daughter of Jay and Stacey Annis who reside in Lake Clear.
