Live fire training planned at Fort Drum

September 25, 2013
Associated Press

FORT DRUM (AP) - It's going to sound like a war zone around Fort Drum later this week, but the Army says there's no cause for alarm.

The Fort Drum Public Affairs Office says there will be higher than normal levels of training noise Friday from Range 48 near Antwerp and Fowler.

Fort Drum Range 48 will be used by the Air Force's 96th Bomb Squadron from Barksdale, La., for live fire training during the afternoon hours. The training is in preparation for future missions.

Anyone with noise concerns during this time should call the New York State Airspace Hotline at 1-800-228-3567.
